The 8x8 Collection ~ What it has taught me, and Thank You ~ Free Cards Friday

It seems sad and isolate to let go of this collection that has opened me and closed me, stretched me and compressed me, delighted me and stressed me for 9 whole straight months.

I am happy with the finished family of 85, but is it really about the outcome? The finished pieces? Or is it about the process?

Glow, the first 8x8, released the beginning of February, 2009

The stumble, the path, the walk, the doors that open pulled by inspiration and insight – pulled by experiences and quiet meditation – pulled by time with my boys that I know I will never retrieve…

Fresh young years of their life that have this one chance to be lived…

I ponder about what is next, and am looking forward to the Limited Edition Giclees, as well as the collection beginning in December called The Forty Minis.

I look forward to seeing what lies ahead in the long run, while I feel my way onto the canvas, as though my heart and soul is gripping the brush and my mind is but an extra appendage…

I love what I do, and if I follow my soul I’ll be completely free to do what I am divinely called to do. The rest will be taken care of.

Healing Me, the final of 85 8x8s, released the end of October, 2009

Sometimes I am and I feel so strongly outcast, but I smile and feel joyful thankfulness that I get to be me in my world. I feel like a 0person with a completely separate ideal. Though I know millions and millions share my feelings, and I am thankful to be connected to so many who feel and think like me.

If you have not watched Dr. Wayne Dyer’s flick Ambition to Meaning, I HIGHLY recommend it.

Soon, I will post a blog post showing all 85 of the paintings – that will be fun.

Thank you again, to all of my wonderful supporters ~ to those of you who have been there with me from the beginning ~ and to those who have stepped in along the path somewhere.

Thank you to that certain sweet collector who now proudly holds 21 of my paintings, to the other wonderful woman who has 18, and she who has 14 and he who has 6 ~ to name a few of my new friends.

It's FREE CARDS FRIDAY! Comment on this post to be entered to win!

Love and warm, sincere feelings to you all, have a great weekend!

The 85 8x8 Collection is Complete! Free Gift Today and Tomorrow! Giclees Next Week

The Very Last 8x8 of Them All has just been released!

It is called Healing Me and with it I present the completed 85 8x8 Collection.

TODAY & TOMORROW Only - purchase an 8x8 painting (there are several available) and Receive a FREE Glass Art Charm!

NEXT THURSDAY, same time ~ same place, the first of 4 Limited Edition Giclees will be released: (drum roll...) Linger (http://kmberggren.com/g128.htm) ~ they are $70 each for a signed and numbered Limited Edition Giclee.

WHAT IS A GICLEE? You may be wondering...

Giclees are Museum quality Fine-Art reproductions, also called Archival Prints. These are the result of highly advanced digital printing technology using fade-resistant archival (acid free) inks known to last at least 70 years.

A Giclee is the closest to an original painting as you can get. These prints are made using an ultra-high-resolution printer, using enhanced smooth matte acid free paper. The color, quality of materials, and overall look makes a Giclee much more valuable than any other type of reproduction. Notably more valuable if the edition is limited to 100 prints or less, and if the Giclee has been pencil signed and numbered by the Artist. Which these will be!

Each Thursday morning I'll surprise you with the painting that is offered as a Limited Edition Giclee - so stay posted by making sure you are on the email list!

Holiday Card Styles Coming in the next few days ~ Stay tuned!

Tomorrow is Free Cards Friday here on the blog - Comment on this post (on the Painting Motherhood Blog or on Facebook) and be in the running to WIN Free Cards! I will choose the winner on Monday.

Brand New Glass Charms ~ Tiny Moments To Take Along!

I'm happy to introduce to you: brand new Art Charms ~ Tiny Moments To Take Along...

These are the Art Charms born from the previously conceived idea, but reinvented in GLASS!

Mini images of original paintings, adhered to smooth lozenges of glass ~ painted in shimmery gold, then glazed for a glass-like appearance, protective seal and durability.

Finished with a Stainless-Steel plated bail ~
they are ready for the strand, chain, hemp, cord of your choosing.

They are gorgeous, shiny, shimmery and smooth.
Lovely, and each is hand-crafted, by me!

They aren't perfectly waterproof, so you'll want to be on the safe side with water, baths, hottubs and of course due to their yummy smoothness, we'll want to keep them away from young children and babies.

These Glass Art Charms are now available at The Uncommon Gift in Camas Washington as well as a couple available in the Etsy Shop at http://www.kmberggren.etsy.com/

Let me know what you think of them!

Believe (above) is also now on display at The Uncommon Gift in Camas Washington!

The Free Cards Friday winner for last week is Aleisha! Thanks for playing!

Love & Sincerely,
Katie

Comment on this post (on the Painting Motherhood Blog or on Facebook) and be in the running to WIN Free Cards! I will choose the winner on Monday.

Tonite, I am working on my paintings for Holiday Cards - yikes, and to tell the truth I'm running behind ;)

I'm enjoying the little snowman and birds (yes, another snowman by popular demand!), as well as the mother sharing joy with her child - I'll show them to you as soon as I have them finished, and allow you to pre-order if you think you might like to send some this year.

IMAGES: last year's Holiday cards!

My boys decorated their rooms for Christmas today - despite the ghosts and spiders hanging in the family room - I had to convince them to wait on the holiday lights, though...

I wish you a wonderful, relaxing, inspired, rainy, Fall-ish weekend. I love this weather, most of the time!

Love & Sincerely,
Katie

Laughter & Hold Fast - 2 New 8x8" Paintings - 80 Already!?

First, I must say, this has been a very interactive nine months for me...

producing these sweet little paintings and sending them out into the world like a mama spider - her babies floating away on tiny web pinwheels...

We've reached 80 8x8s already - can you believe it?

Today's paintings are helping me to remember, as I scurry through a couple of the busiest and most demanding weeks in ages, to take a moment and just feel that soft warm cheek against my own. To stop and actually hear the joke instead of just saying "hmm hmmm".

We're never immune to life's craziness, but as Twyla Tharp said and I love to quote:

"Art is the only way to run away without leaving home."

In a sense, my time in the studio is my time to run away - to bring the focus inward and float happily on music and creation, possibility and intuition.

Here, I present to you two paintings to help us remember the joyful times that are woven in amongst the phone calls, appointments, kitty litter, sticky counter spots, vacuum cleaner cords, craft supplies, toast crumbs, computer time and wet towels.

They are Laughter (top) and Hold Fast (bottom) and you can learn more about them in the online portfolio . If they speak to you, you can grab them in the Etsy Shop.

Help me to remember to STOP and just BE.

Love & Sincerely, Katie

Inspired by Clouds - It's Free Cards Friday Again!

Just now, as my boys and I were driving home from the Post Office, I was taken aback by the clouds - this hasn't happened in awhile and I look at it as a positive sign.

There are times when I forget to take notice of nature's beauty - although I try to point out to my sons the gorgeous elements that were made by mother nature (and not touched by humans).
We all three ooohed and awed, gussied and gaffawed at the beauty of the sky's "mashed potato" clouds - a thick, luscious white with ripples - overlapped by darker, thinner, smoother rain clouds. I was wishing I had my camera.
"Maybe I'll paint some clouds" I told my boys - inside wondering what others would think - and my five year old said "then why don't you?"
I think we will all paint some clouds this weekend.
It's Free Cards Friday again, can you believe it?

I used to work in an office (my only 9-5 job and it didn't last long - I've always been too much of a dreamer) and the people that I worked with would exclaim "Happy Friday!" on Fridays and I never quite "got it". Despite their smiles I always felt sadness.

Why do we wait for Fridays? That seems like such a waste.

I love Fridays, but when "happy Friday" pops into my head a little rain cloud passes through my thoughts - I find it so sad that so many wait for Friday, wait for the weekend... I hope they try to find happiness every other day, as well.

Have a happy Friday and a happy weekend, and I'd love to hear your comments - tell me about clouds, your feelings towards Fridays, or just say "hi".

I had the opportunity to (secretly) watch my neighbor unload his trunk from a Cosco trip today - simple pleasure for me - I've always been enthralled in seeing what others buy and in the joy of stocking the pantry.

2 New 8x8 Paintings Released This Morning! Free Cards Friday is Tomorrow!

Happy October!

This week, I was feeling whimsical in designing the two newest paintings in the 85 8x8s for $85 Collection :)

Collecting Leaves - I'm in a whimsical Fall mood as the weather changes, the leaves fly, the fat drops fall from the sky. My littlest son loves to collects leaves - always with joyful intentions of using them in a project of some sort - though frequently they end up collecting in the corners of the house!

Spoons - Spooning with your two favorite people... what more do I have to say?

Find the whole 8x8 collection here http://kmberggren.com/portfolio-85-85.htm

I wish you an inspired day!
